Dan Hurley has had a prestigious career as both a
player and coach in the Garden State. He just
completed his 7th year as Head Basketball Coach
at St. Benedict's Prep of Newark leading the Gray
Bees to a 24-1 record and the # 5 final ranking in
USA Today's Super 25 Boys Basketball poll in
2007. In 2008, the gray bees finished as the
consensus #2 ranked team in the country with a
24-1 record. During his tenure at St. Benedict's the
team's overall record is 179-17 with many players
going on to play at the Division I level including
2007 standout Corey Stokes (Villanova) and 2006
members Lance Thomas (Duke), Eugene Harvey
(Seton Hall), and David Cubilian (Marquette). In
addition, Dan was selected to coach the East
Squad at the 2006 EA Sports Roundball All-Star
Classic. He was the NJ Gatorade and AP HS
player of the year while at St. Anthony of Jersey City
continuing his playing career at Seton Hall
University where he was a 1000+ point scorer
participating in 3 NCAA as well as one N.I.T
appearance tournament. Dan also spent four
years as an assistant coach at Rutgers University.
